From Defenders of Wildlife: "First, the bad news: misguided aerial gunning of wolves in Idaho could begin soon. Now, the good news: Already, more 800 caring Defenders supporters have stepped up to help fund our work to prevent this tragedy and save these wolves. It’s a terrifying scene: a helicopter hovers low over the woods, the sudden crack of gunfire and an imperiled wolf is killed. Western Wildlife Services — the federal government’s chief wildlife-killing agency — is gearing up for a campaign of aerial killing in 2011 in a misguided attempt to increase elk numbers for hunters to kill.

The targets? Wolves in parts of Idaho’s National Forests. These wolves are no match for federal gunners in helicopters. But, with your help, we can work to stop the killing.

YOU can help them! Donate Now to help! [link] Every Little Bit helps!

Under proposals now being considered by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service more than 50 wolves — supposedly federally protected wolves — could be targeted for death this spring at the hands of federal agents.

Last summer, a federal judge restored life-saving Endangered Species Act protections for these wolves. But that hasn’t stopped officials in Idaho from seeking their deaths… or Wildlife Services from drafting a gruesome plan to kill these magnificent animals.

To stop the killing before it begins, our crack legal team is tenaciously fighting in the courts and our staff in Idaho is working hard on the ground. If you've never donated to Defenders of Wildlife, we need your help now!

If Anyone is from Indiana- Pay Especial Attention to this note- To win the difficult fight ahead and other wildlife emergencies, we need to raise at least $211,000 before midnight Eastern Time Friday.

We need just 41 people from Indiana to meet our goal of 2,011 dedicated supporters for the New Year!

From experience, your donations really do make a difference. Caring supporters like you helped us win the legal fight to restore protections for wolves in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. And they helped us stop an earlier Wildlife Services plan that would have allowed for the gassing of wolf pups in their dens and wolf sterilization schemes.

The killing could begin in just a few short months. But our actions to save these wolves need your support right now.

Make your contribution today and help stop aerial wolf killing in Idaho before it starts.

P.S. Our wolves don’t have much time. Please make your secure online contribution by 11:59 PM Eastern Time Friday. Or, call 1-800-385-9712 to donate by phone.

For the Wild Ones,

If u love Wolves and animals in general give Sarah Palin a birthday gift she won't like- You can "celebrate" Palin's birthday by refusing to use violent language and images and asking your friends to turn off Fox News. We're celebrating with a $50 donation for every person who takes this offer and joins CREDO Mobile, America's only progressive phone company. The donations will go to Defenders of Wildlife, which vigorously opposed Palin on airborne hunting. CREDO has long supported the group, which is committed to protecting wolves and other wildlife, and the habitat on which they depend.

P.S. Sarah Palin didn't endorse this deal—or this donation. We just wanted to give her a birthday gift she would not like. Defenders of Wildlife didn't endorse this deal either. We just think they'll like it. -from [link]

:D Thank You for your Comment
I wish that more people could feel that way about our precious critters on the earth whether they are wild or not, because though we may be able to speak and such, we have a lot we can learn from them, and we, like them, have at least this in common and that is we all have families. And right now, The wonderful wolves are Living in fear for their lives and their families and can do nothing, they are really loving animals and want what we want, love and peace and it's not fair to them to do this, would anyone want someone coming into their home and start killing? I would think not!

It would be criminal and morally wrong and that is exactly what is going on with these and other creatures, and it is not respectful or loving. And it's their right... -just as it is ours, to have the peace and love that as beings we all want.

I agree with you, the ones who do this should be prevented from doing this and should have charges of murder brought against them -because if in our justice system we want justice from murder, the animals should have the same rights, because they are living beings as well and deserve having the right to peace, love and in the case of wrongful death, have justice as we would have wanting in our lives.

The law should protect them and other animals that if left unprotected will soon become on the Endangered Species list, and for some, may even go extinct... One does not have to look far into history to find cases of extinction brought about by who else, but humans?.

And it's not just killing that goes on either, these animals that are hunted are also losing their homes as well due to man tearing up the forests and rainforest, and if they all disappear more and more of these creatures will find themselves in peril and living closer to man than they would want.
